“MR. DANIEL BERKO

Mr Daniel Berko is a Lecturer in the Department of Entrepreneurship and Business Sciences, School of Management Sciences and Law, University of Energy and Natural Resources. He holds a Master?s degree in finance and a Bachelor of Commerce degree (BCOM) from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He also has a Higher National Diploma from the then Ho Polytechnic, currently Ho Technical University. Mr Berko is now a PhD (Finance) student. He joined the academia on a full-time basis in 2016. He has served the University in various capacities. He is the immediate past Head of Department of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Business Sciences, (2018 ? 2020) The first batch of students to commence the Department?s weekend programme were admitted during his tenure of office. He was a member of the Graduate Students? Handbook Review Committee, (2019). Member of the Academic Board Committee for the Harmonization of Grading System and Classification of Degrees for Diploma Programmes, (2019). A member of School of Management Sciences and Law Board, University of Energy and Natural Resources, from August 2018 to date. He was a member of the University?s Academic Board, from 2016 ? 2020.
He acquired remarkable experience in the corporate world for over ten years where he held several positions in the banking field before joining academia to impart knowledge, where he is blending theory with practical experience to impart knowledge to students in a wide range of business courses. He was the Head of the Internal Audit Unit and a Deputy Manager. Among his responsibilities were to: ensure that the bank?s operational policies, procedures and systems were strictly followed to promote efficiency, evaluate business risks and developing internal audit programmes based on risk assessment results, review the bank?s internal control system and suggesting improvements, implementing a continuous monitory system to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of controls over the credit and funds management system, safeguarding the assets of the bank. He performed his duties conscientiously without fear or favour.
He has participated in a lot of seminars and workshops. He supervises both diploma and undergraduate students? research works. He again serves as an academic mentor for students where he advises, directs, and guards the mentees in their academic endeavours and other social problems.
He is currently the Chairman of the Asuakwa (New Dormaa) Development Committee.”
