John K. M. Kuwornu obtained a PhD in Agricultural Economics and Marketing, from Wageningen University, Netherlands on 31st January 2006. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and serves as the Dean of the School of Agriculture and Technology, and the Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Sunyani, Ghana. Prior to this, he served as faculty in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness at the University of Ghana and as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and the University of Ghana Business Schools. He was also an Associate Professor in Agribusiness Management at the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand.
Prof. John K. M. Kuwornu is very dedicated to his work, co-operative and has excellent inter-personal relationship with colleagues, subordinates, and superiors. He is task-oriented, results-oriented, self-motivated. He is always eager to learn new techniques and apply them to solve societal problems. He can meet very tight and difficult deadlines and has passion to achieve desired results on time. He is very versatile and easily works under extreme pressure. He is very diligent with managing his time and handles administrative assignments excellently.
He possesses enormous research, teaching and outreach experiences and has published two (3) books, 15 book chapters, and over 140 articles in internationally recognized peer reviewed journals. He has consulted for national and international organisations including the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, World Bank, United States Agency for International Development, African Center for Economic Transformation, West African Trade Hub, Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia, International Growth Center – London School of Economics, UK, Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa, and the United Nations Development Programme. He possesses strong analytical and conceptual skills as well as written and verbal communication skills. He is an internationally acclaimed scholar who is highly motivated with strong leadership, managerial, organizational and administrative skills to manage and control crises. Furthermore, he is circumspect and above reproach; possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and he is sober with maturity and drive for sound and impartial judgement.
He possesses international visibility and networks in Africa, Asia, Europe, Canada, US, Australia, and elsewhere thereby increasing the possibility of attracting donor funding for research. He has vast experience in teaching and learning in higher educational institutions as well as lobbying skills for resource mobilization. He possesses experience in managing academic and non-academic staff.
