“These Success Stories Need to be Told”- Gifty Anti Amazed at UENR’s Achievements, University of Energy and Natural Resources - Sunyani

A multiple award-winning broadcast Journalist and the CEO of GDA Media, Oheneyere Gifty Anti has expressed her amazement at the achievements and successes chalked by UENR within its few years of existence. According to her, most success stories from institutions such as UENR are not being told to the world, yet they are worth hearing.

The award-winning media personality mentioned this when she paid a courtesy call to the University Management on Friday, March 24, 2023, as part of her presence in Sunyani to grace an event dubbed “Maximizing your Potential”. Gifty Anti, in her speech, after she was briefed on the history and achievements of the University by the Ag. Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John K.M. Kuwornu, congratulated the University which is celebrating its 10th Anniversary and commended the Management for their efforts to make the University recognised in Ghana and beyond despite the limited resources available. She pledged to see how best she can be of help to the University.

The Ag. Pro Vice-Chancellor was pleased to receive her on behalf of the University. He gave her a brief history and overview of the University and said starting from a humble beginning in 2012, the University has recorded various successes. She was also made aware of other competitions and research innovations by Faculty and Students, placing the University on the national and international fronts. The Pro VC mentioned that one of these achievements was the 2022 World’s Best Public Speaker won by a female Mechanical Engineering student of the University.

Prof. Kuwornu, however, expressed worry about the limited infrastructural facilities hindering the University’s progress despite the availability of qualified and well-versed human resources. He, therefore, used the opportunity to call on Gifty Anti to use her networks and advocacy platforms to connect the University to international philanthropic organizations to support the University. He was hopeful that her presence on campus to have time with the students will be impactful, especially for the female students.

Following the meeting, Gift Anti interacted with the students of the University at the auditorium convened by the UENR SRC Women’s Commission.
