UENR Organizes Send-Off Ceremony in Honour of Six Retired Staff, University of Energy and Natural Resources - Sunyani

The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) on Thursday, November 30, 2023 organized a send-off ceremony to bid farewell to six (6) retired staff of the University who have dedicated their years to the University. The event, held at the Sheila’s Executive Hotel, brought together faculty, staff, and their families to celebrate the remarkable contributions of these retirees.

The ceremony commenced with a warm address by the University Council Chairman, Prof. Kwasi Nsiah-Gyabaah who expressed deep appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the retirees throughout their tenure at UENR.

Acknowledging the celebrated Retirees, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako delivered a moving farewell address, expressing gratitude for the retirees’ years of service and wishing them a fulfilling and joyous retirement. He recognized that it is a difficult moment for the University to bid farewell to its staff but he also appreciated that the send-off is also an occasion to show love to the retirees for a well-deserved retirement. He wished them well in their future endeavours noting that their tireless work for UENR would always be remembered.

The atmosphere was filled with a mix of nostalgia and admiration as colleagues and well-wishers gathered to honour the retirees. The Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Georgina Asi Owusu in a welcome remark also extended an appreciation to the Retirees for their unwavering contribution to the growth of UENR. She noted that the Retirees will forever remain in the good books and heart of the University.

As each Retiree was called to the stage, personalized citations were presented by the University, the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana (SSA-UOG-UENR) and Registrar’s Offices Welfare Scheme (ROWS) highlighting their achievements, unwavering commitment, and the impact they had on the university community. A heartfelt felicitations were said by all Unions on Campus testimonials were accompanied by gifts of appreciation, symbolizing the lasting impact the retirees have had on UENR.

On behalf of the Retirees, the Former Registrar, Solomon Panford, Esq., APR shared their reflections and expressed their gratitude for the support and camaraderie they experienced during their time at UENR. The other Retirees are Ms. Janet Asare, Former Headmistress of UENR Basic School; Mr. Kodwo Boakye Egyin, Former Ag. Director, Internal Audit; Ing. Christian Yeboah Nuako, Former Director of Works and Physical Development; Mr. Robert Cudjoe, Former Director of IT; and Mr. Albert Banan Abdulai, Former Director of Finance.
