UENR Celebrates with Sunyani Traditional Council on the Coronation of Nana Akosua Duaa Asor Brayie II as the Paramount Queen Mother

A high-powered delegation from the University of Energy and Natural Resources, led by the Registrar, Solomon Panford, Esq., APR on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, attended a colourful coronation ceremony of the Paramount Queen Mother of the Sunyani Traditional Council, Nana Akosua Duaa Asor Brayie II. The event which took place at the New Palace of Sunyani saw in attendance chiefs and queen mothers from various traditional councils, the Clergy, politicians, civil and public servants as well as the general public. In display was a panorama of activities to showcase the richness of the Ghanaian culture.

The occasion saw Nana Akosua Duaa Asor Brayie II dressed in exotic kente cloth with varied colours sitting in state to receive dignitaries. The event created a unique platform for exhibiting the rich Bono and Ghanaian culture with traditional drummers and dancers displaying their art with passion.

Paramount Queen Mother of the Sunyani Traditional Council, Nana Akosua Duaa Asor Brayie II

The Registrar on behalf of the University Management congratulated the Queen and wished her the best in her reign. The Delegation on behalf of the University also made a cash donation of GH¢5,000, 10 packs of bottled Water, soft drinks and schnapps towards the occasion.

The Delegation who attended the ceremony included the Director of Finance, Mr. Abdulai Banan; Prof. Simon Abugre, Dean, School of Natural Resources; Prof. (Mrs) Mercy A.  Derkyi, Head, Centre for Professional Development (CePDEV); Dr. Peter Appiahene, Head, Department of Computer Science and Informatics; Head of University Relations Office, Mr. Alfred Ohenenana Appiah; Madam Ama Asafu-Adjaye, University Librarian among others.

The University community’s presence at the event was a testament to the strong existing ties between the University and the Sunyani Traditional Council. The Chairman for the occasion was the Chief of Suma Ahenkro,Odeneho Dr. Affram Brempong III known in private life as Dr. Kusi Boachie Yiadom, a staff at the University of Energy and Natural Resources.
