University Relations Office Undertakes Study Tour at KNUST

As part of efforts to strengthen communication systems and public relations practice, the University Relations Office (URO) of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has undertaken the first leg of a five-day benchmarking study tour at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

The study tour, which runs from July 13 to 17, 2026, will take the URO delegation to both KNUST and the University of Cape Coast (UCC). The KNUST engagements, held on July 13 and 14, focused on exposing the delegation to best practices across key communication, media, publishing, digital technology, and alumni engagement units.

During the two-day visit, the UENR delegation, led by Dr. Alfred Ohenenana Appiah, interacted with officials of the KNUST University Relations Office, headed by Deputy Registrar Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, as well as the Information Technology Services, the E-Learning Centre, the University Printing Press, and Focus FM.

Discussions covered strategic communication planning, media relations, branding, alumni engagement, university-industry collaboration, digital learning systems, academic publishing, information technology infrastructure, campus broadcasting, and revenue generation. Across the various units, officials shared their operational structures, approaches to cross-departmental collaboration, and staff development practices that have shaped KNUST’s communication and service delivery model.

A key highlight of the visit was the engagement with the Advancement and Alumni Relations Section of the URO, where discussions centred on strategies for deepening alumni participation in university development. The Head, Anita Akua Kyerewaa Kumah, outlined approaches to sustaining alumni relationships through structured engagement, fundraising initiatives, and strategic partnerships that support institutional growth.
