A delegation from the University Relations Office (URO) of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has undertaken a 2-day study tour to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The tour scheduled on the 13th and 14th July, 2026 forms part of efforts to strengthen institutional collaboration and enhance public relations practice through knowledge sharing within the two institutions.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Alfred Ohenenana Appiah who led the delegation expressed appreciation to the Management and staff of KNUST for their warm reception, openness, and willingness to share knowledge and best practices throughout the visit. He noted that officials in the various departments visited readily engaged the delegation, providing valuable insights into their operations and administrative systems. He added that the study tour forms part of UENR’s efforts to benchmark its public relations practices against established standards and strengthen collaboration with sister institutions. Dr. Appiah further commended KNUST for fostering a culture of professionalism, transparency, and institutional cooperation, describing the University as a valuable partner in promoting excellence in higher education administration.
Welcoming the delegation, the Registrar, Mr. Benjamin Boampong Owusu, Esq., encouraged public relations practitioners to view their role as strategic communicators responsible for safeguarding and promoting the reputation of their institutions. He urged University Relations professionals to communicate institutional achievements accurately and strategically while maintaining credibility, professionalism, and public trust. Drawing from his career progression from a National Service person to Registrar, Mr. Owusu encouraged the delegation to remain committed to excellence, continuous learning, and making meaningful contributions wherever they serve.
Members of the UENR delegation commended KNUST for its reputation as one of Africa’s leading universities and acknowledged its achievements in higher education management, administration, and public relations. They noted that the study visit provided valuable lessons that would contribute to strengthening UENR’s communication strategies and institutional visibility.
The study tour forms part of UENR’s continuous efforts to build institutional capacity through collaboration, experience sharing, and the adoption of best practices to enhance stakeholder engagement and promote the University’s reputation.
