The Head of Earth Observation Research and Innovation Centre (EORIC), Ing. Dr. Emmanuel Kwesi Nyantakyi has been elevated to Fellow Status in the Civil Division of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE). He thus becomes the first Fellow in UENR and Branch 2 (Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions). Ing. Dr. Emmanuel Kwesi Nyantakyi was also re-elected as Chair of Branch 2 (Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions) for another two years.
This took place at the 53rd Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) held at the Best Western Atlantic Plus Hotel, Takoradi from March 27 to April 1, 2023.
The Fellow status was conferred on Ing. Dr. Emmanuel Kwesi Nyantakyi for making a significant contribution to the engineering profession.
The citation accompanying his elevation to Fellow Status reads,
“You have twenty (20) years of experience in Civil and Geological Engineering. You have been instrumental in the education and practical training of engineering students for twenty (20) years. You were the Chair of Branch 1, Ashanti Region from 2018 to 2021 where you championed the activities of GhIE. You are currently the Chair of Branch 2 where you have helped in the organization of the branch, membership drive and advocacy. You still contribute to generating interest in Science, Technology and Engineering Education amongst the youth in the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions. You helped in the formation and launching of the WinE student chapter at the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) in 2017, GhIE/WinE student chapters at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and Sunyani Technical University (STU) in 2019 and 2022 respectively. You are currently a member of the Publication, Membership, Education and Training Committees and serve as a member of the Entity Tender Committee for the Middle Belt Development Authority where you have brought your expertise to bear on the committee since August 2019. Ing. Dr. Emmanuel Kwesi Nyantakyi, in recognition of your contribution to the Engineering practice, you are elevated to the Class of Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineering.”
