Mr. Prince Yeboah, an old student of Drobo Senior High School in Jaman in the Bono Region, is the Valedictorian for the 2022 class of Graduands. The BSc. Natural Resource Management student graduated with an FGPA of 3.89 and received three awards. He shared his experience during his 4-year study at UENR as he delivered the valedictorian speech. Prince acknowledged the negative impact of the novel Corona Virus on their 4-year study, where they were forced to adapt to the e-learning system of education and internet connectivity challenges. He said “Most of us were struggling to get data to connect to the various platforms, while for others, the telecommunication networks were not supporting them due to their locations. Others had to connect while doing menial jobs at home.” He, however, expressed his happiness about successfully graduating despite the challenges he and his colleagues faced.
“For me what attracted me to the University was its motto: Knowledge Integrity Impact. I believe that it is with knowledge accompanied by integrity that we can impact our world. The knowledge that is deficient in integrity alone cannot get the job done. The Valedictorian further said that this made the University of Energy and Natural Resources appeal to me because of my unquenchable desire to impart my generation,” the Valedictorian said.
To his fellow graduands, the Valedictorian encouraged them to strive to make an impact in their small efforts amidst the great uncertainty of what awaits them as fresh graduates. Prince envisions being a man of influence in academia and is passionate about leadership. To translate this into reality, he intends to attain the highest level of qualification in academia.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako addressing the Congregation commended the graduands for performing well in their various academic programmes. He urged them to celebrate their achievements as the 10th batch of graduates from the University, which also marks the 10th-anniversary celebration of the University. “My new Tenth Anniversary Technologians, now that you have the mandate and the qualification to impact your world as our University anthem says, go to the industries and work with your hearts and hands and strengthen every twist and turn and leave your mark to make this country a stronger one,” the Vice-Chancellor urged the graduands.
The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Justina Owusu Banahene who read the Keynote Speech on behalf of the Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum commended UENR for its leadership role in providing education in the areas of energy and natural resources sectors of the Ghanaian economy and beyond.
