HOLLARD INSURANCE TO PARTNER WITH UENR ON BUILDING THE SKILLS OF STUDENTS

The Hollard Insurance, Ghana has hinted its intention to partner with the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani in building students’ entrepreneurial and actuarial skills. This was made known when a delegation of the company in collaboration with a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Dr. Sampson Takyi Appiah visited the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako at his office on 30th August 2021.

The Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Miss Cynthia Ofori-Dwumfuo giving the purpose of the visit said the tenacity of Hollard Insurance is anchored on achieving exceptional, sustainable and inclusive growth; by partnering with academic institutions to deliver a mutually beneficial relationship through sponsorship and training. She further mentioned that the Hollard―Academia partnership hinges on five (5) goals among which are: to reward top-performing students for triple winning at academia, entrepreneurial mindset and personal development; to support the achievement of exceptional, sustainable and inclusive growth in academic works; to show care and dignity to the academic community by being a corporate resource for learning. She was confident the partnership would allow their company to support UENR students and prepare them for the corporate world.

The Vice-Chancellor in his remarks expressed his happiness for the team on their corporate strategy to visit the University and to build a heightened collaboration. He noted that the facets of their partnership go in line with his vision as a Vice-Chancellor to make the University an entrepreneurially driven institution. Professor Elvis Asare-Bediako indicated that the development of students is a core desire of the University hence the partnership is timely and much appreciated by the management of UENR. He appealed to the team to expand their internship intake for the students of UENR.

The Registrar Solomon Panford, Esq., adding up to the Vice-Chancellor’s remark was pleased with the corporate visit. He gave the assurance that management is prepared to help develop the proposal to a feasible one.
