The Managing Director (MD) of Prudential Bank, Mr. Bernard Appiah Gyebi together with four other staff of the Bank on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, paid a courtesy call on the Management of UENR.
Giving the purpose for the visit, the MD disclosed that the visit was to afford him the opportunity to introduce himself to the Management as the new Head of the Bank. He added that the engagement would also enable him to identify pertinent issues of the University as their client and to see how best these issues can be addressed.
On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako, the Ag. Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John K. M. Kuwornu received the visitors at the University’s Council Chamber. He congratulated Mr. Bernard Appiah Gyebi on his new role and implored that his expertise would help move the bank to another height. The Ag. Pro VC acknowledged that the University through its Finance Directorate has been engaging the Bank, which indicates the good standing relationship between the two institutions.
He further briefed the team that the University since its establishment has been seeing an exponential increment in student enrolment, hence the University needs more infrastructure to accommodate the increasing numbers. He also requested that the team should consider extending the Bank’s fee payment platform to the University to make it convenient for the payment of fees, especially for international students. The Ag. Pro VC also appealed to the MD to find a mutually beneficial means to partner with the University to provide infrastructural support for the UENR Basic School.
In response, the MD gave the assurance that in spite of the current economic challenges in the financial sector, the Bank is still in a good position to provide financial support to the University. Further expressing the high value placed on UENR as their client, the MD promised to address all the concerns raised by the University Management.
The Director of Finance, Mr. Abdulai Banan; the Deputy Registrar of the University Relations Office, Mr. Hayford Asare; the Head of Treasury, Mr. Augustine Opoku Mensah were present at the meeting. The MD’s entourage were the Bono Regional Manager of the Bank, Mr. Clement Marfo; the Executive Head of Business, Mr. Ebow Quayson, the Head of Corporate Affairs, Ms. Akosua A. Boahen, and Mr. Emmanuel Osei, the Regional Head of Marketing.
