The UENR Chapter of Huawei Information Communication Technology (ICT) Academy in conjunction with the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering; Department Computer Science and Informatics have trained fifty (50) students in routing and switching which started in March 2020. At the end of the training, 43 students who passed the professional certificate examination were presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako at his office.
Briefing the Vice-Chancellor, the Administrator who is also a certified Instructor of the UENR-Chapter of the Academy; Mr. Samuel Tweneboah-Koduah, explained that the programme seeks to give intensive training to students to help them acquire knowledge and skills in ICT. The trainees will then write a Huawei ICT Academy’s certified examination for Huawei’s Professional Certificate at the end of the training session. Again, he mentioned that the training programme was an add-on knowledge gained by beneficiaries that would better place them in a competitive world. “The training programme is to bridge the gap between the industry and the academia by providing excellent training materials free of charge. UENR, as a higher learning institution is happy to be part of this broad family to give ICT skills needed for the job market to our students”, he added. The instructor further stated that the next training session would be held on 28th July 2021. He hinted that a roadshow programme will be organized to sensitize students and the University community on the 2021 Huawei ICT competition and the academy’s activities.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the team for their zeal to acquire knowledge not only in the classroom but through other digital avenues. He encouraged the students to strive for higher academic excellence and be good ambassadors of UENR.
Other certified Instructors of the UENR-Chapter of the Huawei Academy are Mr. Andrew Quansah and Mr. John Ansu of the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering; and Mr. Owusu Nyarko-Boateng of the Department of Computer Science and Informatics.
The Huawei ICT Academy is a partnership between Huawei and Academies around the world. Through this partnership, the Academy delivers Huawei ICT technologies training, encourages students to get Huawei certification, and develops talents with practical skills for the ICT industry and the community.
