Executive Personal Profile – Associate Professor Emmanuel Opoku Marfo
I am an Associate Professor specializing in Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability. Currently, I served as a Commissioner on the Governing Board of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), appointed by the President of the Republic of Ghana for the 2020–2024 term. Additionally, I am the Head of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Business Incubation (CEBI) in the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR). Previously, I held the position of Acting Dean at the School of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani, and also served as the Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Business Sciences.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lincoln, UK, in 2004, followed by a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the same institution. In 2016, I obtained a PhD in Management Science and Engineering, specializing in Corporate Finance, from Jiangsu University, China. I am also a trained Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Management (UK) and hold a Professional Fellowship in Administration and Management Consultancy (Ghana).
With over seven years of banking experience, I previously worked with Nsoatreman Rural Bank in Sunyani. I also served as Secretary to the Sustainable Development Committee for the ten catchment areas of Newmont Ahafo Mines. Additionally, I led Klimason Company as Chief Executive Officer, overseeing the construction of libraries and teachers’ bungalows for Newmont’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects.
Beyond academia, I actively contribute to governance and policy development. I currently serve as Chairman and Board Member on multiple Boards and committees, including:
