A total of 1,958 worshippers gathered at the Bank of Ghana (BoG) Auditorium of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) on Sunday, 25th October 2026, for the University’s Freshers’ Welcome Service, where the University Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Benjamin Darko Asamoah, challenged students to take responsibility for their academic journey, personal growth, and future.
Preaching on the theme “Pay Attention to Your Field,” based on Matthew 13:24–30, Rev. Dr. Asamoah urged students to recognize the uniqueness of their individual journeys, avoid unhealthy comparisons, and seek God’s guidance in making the most of their opportunities.

Drawing lessons from Galatians 6:7–9 and Genesis 8:22, he emphasized the importance of sowing good seeds through hard work, discipline, integrity, and purposeful living. He cautioned students against neglecting their responsibilities and urged them to guard against negative influences that could undermine their progress.
In his remarks, the Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Simon Abugre reinforced the message by cautioning fresh students against examination malpractice and encouraging them to pursue academic excellence through honesty, diligence and genuine learning.

An integral part of the service was a spirited session of praise and worship, during which students sang, danced and glorified God for granting them the opportunity to gain admission into the University.
The service, which commenced at 7:45 a.m., reminded students that university education extends beyond acquiring certificates to include character formation, responsible decision-making and preparation for meaningful contributions to society.
