The Junior Common Room Council (JCRC) of University Hall I at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has secured support from Kaaseman Rural Bank for the provision of ten refuse bins to improve sanitation in the Hall, with the presentation made on October 22, 2026.
The Acting Board Chairman of Kaaseman Rural Bank, Dr. Amos Apraku, traced the bank’s establishment to 1987 and noted that upon receiving the JCRC’s request, the Board approved the donation. He expressed pride in partnering with the University and indicated confidence that the relationship between the bank and UENR would continue to grow. He added that the bank intends to return to engage students on its loan products, particularly those relevant to student financing.
JCRC President Herman Opoku Dankwah explained that poor waste management conditions in the Hall, including the use of makeshift containers as dustbins, prompted the council to seek external support. He noted that the newly acquired bins would be placed at strategic points across the facility to address the sanitation problem and improve the overall living conditions of residents, and indicated that the council intends to pursue further corporate-backed initiatives for the Hall’s student community.
The Hall Master, Mr. Johnson De-Graft Ankamah, expressed gratitude for the bank’s support and appealed for expanded engagement from financial institutions to address broader infrastructure challenges in the Hall, including the repainting of severely faded walls and the repaving of outdoor grounds. He called for sustained corporate social responsibility partnerships to help restore and maintain the Hall’s physical environment.
