THE UNIVERSITY OF ENERGY AND NATURAL RESOURCES SIGNS MOU WITH AGREE LTD.

The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and AGREE Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to help bridge the information gap that exists between academia and the industry.

The Deputy Minister of Energy in charge of the Petroleum Sector, Hon. Mohammed Amin Adam graced the event at the Coconut Grove Hotel in Accra. UENR as an academic shall provide research support to the energy-related industries in the country to ensure the production of quality oil products.

Some of the personalities in attendance were the CEO of Ghana Gas, Dr. Ben K.D. Asante who doubles as the Chairman for the governing board of the National Energy Quiz and Prof. Amevi Acakpovi, and the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Accra Technical University who represented the Technical Universities in Ghana.

The event was also used to launch the National Energy Quiz and Expo. The National Energy Quiz and Expo is an event organized by the AGREE Ltd and in partnership with the University of Energy and Natural Resources to engage the industrial players and the academia in the provision of information and data, which is a key factor in Energy sustainability. The event is scheduled to take place from the 23rd to 25th November 2021 under the theme; Achieving SDGs 7/13- Think Energy, Act Global, Starts Local at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel, Accra.

In a related development, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Sunyani, together with a team of staff  made a two-day official visit to some Chief Executive Officers in the Energy Sector ahead of the National Energy Quiz and Expo. Some of the places the Vice-Chancellor visited included the GNPC, Ministry of Energy, Ghana Gas, GOIL, and GRIDCo.

The visit was to engage the CEOs, brief them on the upcoming event, and strengthen the relationship between them and the University. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Elvis Asare-Bediako used the moment to deliberate with the Captains possible areas of collaboration.
